galpy.potential.flattening(Pot, R, z, t=0.0)[source]¶

Calculate the potential flattening, defined as sqrt(fabs(z/R F_R/F_z))

Parameters:

Pot (Potential instance or list thereof) – Potential instance or list thereof.
R (float or Quantity) – Galactocentric radius.
z (float or Quantity) – Height.
t (float or Quantity, optional) – Time (default: 0).

Returns:

Flattening.

Return type:

float or Quantity
