galpy.util.coords.Rz_to_coshucosv(R, z, delta=1.0, oblate=False)[source]

Calculate prolate confocal cosh(u) and cos(v) coordinates from R,z, and delta.

Parameters:
  • R (float or numpy.ndarray) – Radius.

  • z (float or numpy.ndarray) – Height.

  • delta (float or numpy.ndarray, optional) – Focus. Default is 1.0.

  • oblate (bool, optional) – If True, compute oblate confocal coordinates instead of prolate. Default is False.

Returns:

Tuple containing cosh(u) and cos(v).

Return type:

tuple
